Why the name Frankie Who?

Frankie means ‘free or truthful’ in French. Vanlife is all about freedom and getting back to basics. It’s a time when we can escape life, have time to think, get back to our true selves.

Who is a part of Heidi’s day (and sometimes around the clock) business… heidi who photos. It isn’t her last name, as asked by many people.

Wanderlust. It’s the way it’s always been for Heidi. Creating heidi who photos and specialising in tourism meant she could get her adventure and be paid for it. But, there was something else she wanted - the freedom of travel without restraint.

She has stayed in hotels, hostels, resorts, motels, homes, cabins… Owned tents, camper-trailer, caravan… the desire to park right by the ocean, to wake up and throw the back doors open never left.

Finally, after years of lusting over other vans, the decision was made. Originally thinking she would purchase a Toyota Hiace weekend mobile, a discussion with a mentor had her thinking and dreaming of creating a boutique tourism product that could be hired out.

With gut instinct, the budget blew and she was looking for a Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit or Volkswagen Crafter. A large van that could seat and sleep three, her children eager to come away with her. After a few false starts, a van was found, and the life of Frankie Who began.
